Grand Auction

Eagle eyed bargain hunters will be heading for Allendale Middle School on Friday 17th March 2006 when the Friends of Allendale Middle (FOAM) will be holding a fund raising auction for the school. Businesses and individuals from near and far have generously pledged goods and promises providing a wide range of interesting items for the auction. Auctioneer Maurice Reed will start the bidding at 7:15pm with viewing from 6pm on the night (Friday 17th March 2006). But don’t despair if you can’t get to the Auction on the night as telephone bids will be accepted in advance, just call Sue Charlton (01434 684475) or Jane Brown (01434 684084) and tell them the items you’re interested in and provide the details of your bid.

If you’re interested in activities then we already have the promise of a days Salmon fishing on the Tweed, a days Salmon fishing on the South Tyne, Golfing, Trampolining, a riding lesson, a family trip to Killhope Lead Mining Museum (including a visit to the mine itself), or an exhilarating Family Birds of Prey Activity Experience with Falconry Days to name a few.

For those interested in food and drink we have something for everyone with Fish and Chips for Four from Haydon Bridge, a meal for two at the Carts Bog Inn, a meal for two at Langley Castle, a meal for two at the Golden Lion Allendale and a voucher towards an Indian meal at the Valley Restaurant in Hexham. Alongside this we have wine, home made fruit cake, shortbread, a vegetable hamper each week for a term, and more fine items to tickle the palate.

Alternatively you could spoil yourself with a Car Valet, hair dressing or beauty treatment, jewellery, household items, toys and books or add to your software collection with some of the latest computer software such as Corel Draw X3 Graphics Suite.

There are also some exceptional collectors items that have already been donated such as a signed and framed Newcastle United shirt, a football signed by Newcastle United, a Corgi Model Fire Engine, and autographed books by local authors.

In order to make the event a success, we need two things:
Donations for the auction and buyers on the night!

You can donate collectables, general items (which must be in good condition – no second hand clothes or soft upholstery please) and promises. A promise could be an hours ironing, babysitting, help on a computer, gardening, baking a cake or any skill you possess! If want to make a donation just call Sue Charlton (01434 684475) or Jane Brown (01434 684084).

Some items that are already available are:

* Signed Newcastle United Football Shirt
* A Day’s Salmon Fishing
* Signed Newcastle United Football
* A Falconry Activity Experience
* Signed Book by Local Artist Ron Thornton
* Meal for Two at various locations
* Trampolining lesson for 6 people
* Various Hair and Beauty vouchers
* Children’s Toys and Books
* Computer Software

Friends of Allendale Middle (FOAM) thank all those who have already generously donated goods and promised for the auction and are asking for further items and promises to be donated for the auction.

On the night viewing will be from 6 pm and bidding will start at 7.15 pm prompt. Refreshments will be available. Bring along your friends, family and chequebook for an entertaining evening!

Can’t make it on the night?
No problem, telephone bids will be accepted in advance, just call Sue Charlton (01434 684475) or Jane Brown (01434 684084).
