Go Britain continues to tackle the problem of cybersquatting and the misuse of its trademarks by continued pressure on those misusing the Go Britain name and associated trademarks. While Go Britain owns dozens of web sites providing information about Britain and selling British products many companies have tried to hold the company to ransom by registering similar sounding domains. Go Britian has tackled this problem head-on and the campaign is now showing signs of success. Already two domains (www.go-britain.co.uk and www.gobritain.co.uk) have been recovered and others are expected to follow. Ed Brown, Managing Director of Go Britain Ltd said, "Following discussions with the people who registered these domains they have been transferred to Go Britain Ltd at a nominal cost to cover expenses. This proves our claim to trademark and will make the obtaining of further domains which abuse our marks easier." Go Britain has contacted a number of companies and individuals and expect to see further domain transfers in the next few months, in the UK and overseas, as a result of their ongoing campaign. Ed Brown said, "Go Britain needs to ensure appropriate corporate and legal action is taken to protect its wide portfolio of domain names and marks. Having successfully shown our right to the domain names based on our trademark in the UK we are now looking to repeat that success overseas."
